Adding on a service task while the vehicle is undertaking other work is no longer a strange idea to the customer. For example, it is now common practice, if not expected, to add on alignment services when the vehicle might be in for tyres. The public is not only educated on this concept of add-ons but they have embraced it.

Some very interesting changes to MOT testing have been announced and we’ll give you a clue: It’s not changing to less frequent testing. Say goodbye to advisories and hello to dangerous, major, and minor fails. What is being tested has also changed with focus on the diesel filters of the emissions system. These changes aren’t just for the passenger car either; they affect several classes of vehicle up to a class 7. It now makes sense for operators of heavy duty fleets to look at preventative maintenance as their most effective DPF strategy.

It is easy to forget that the soot and ash trapped inside a diesel particulate filter is a highly toxic cocktail of ‘matter’ that has been purposefully prevented from being jettisoned into the atmosphere along with the exhaust gas from diesel engines. If it serious enough to be a legal requirement for vehicle manufacturers to ensure that the public are protected from breathing in particulate matter (PM) , then it follows that it is equally important to do the same for workshop staff when they are emptying out a DPF.

Having been with the company for many years he enjoys the arrival of new models in the range and he recently went to Seattle to work with FSX who partnered with Hartridge to develop the new Hartridge DPF 300 Master Series.
